Rockwall School of Music
The Rockwall School of Music is the only school of music in Rockwall County. Our 16 instructors provide private and small group music lessons for over 240 children, teens and adults weekly. Our most requested lessons are in piano and guitar. However, drums, voice, violin, viola, and cello lessons are also in high demand. Preschoolers are invited to participate in our Kindermusik program which provides an interactive, age appropriate, music education program for newborns through 4 years old. Music lessons are provided throughout the day and into the evening hours.

Private Lessons:

At the Rockwall School of Music private lessons are offered in piano, guitar, voice, violin, viola, cello, drums and woodwinds. Lessons are offered during the afternoon and evening hours Monday-Thursday. Saturday morning lessons are also available. Minimum age recommendations for private lessons are as follows:
Violin: age 4 and up
Piano: age 5 and up Viola, Cello, Guitar and Drums: age 8 and up
Woodwinds: age 10 and up
Voice Lessons: age 12 and up

Fall Specialty Classes:

Voice Class for Older Elementary Students
(Minimum class size of three required)

Older elementary students who love to sing are invited to join this voice class to learn the fundamentals of solo and ensemble singing. This class targets boys and girls in grades 4-6.

Introductory Class for Piano or Guitar
(Minimum class size of three required)

This has been one of the most popular additions to our schedule. For children, teens or adults who love music and would like to “test the waters” this is the perfect class. These 45 minute classes provide a full semester adventure into the wonderful world of music.

Special Interest Guitar Classes
(Minimum class size of three required)

Select one of these 45 minute “special interest” guitar classes and experience music at a new level. Each class is designed for intermediate-advanced players.
Top 10 Rock Songs of All Times (examples songs: Sweet Home Alabama, Stairway to Heaven, Carry On, Smoke on the Water, etc.)
Blues Class (Blues soloing class on blues tunes and theory using major, minor and pentatonic blues scales.)
Girls Only: Learn the top tunes from Taylor Swift’s #1 album of the Year, Fearless
Classical Guitar Class for Adults: Learn the technique and charm of playing Classical Guitar.

Percussion Classes Offered
(Minimum class size of four required)

Whether your desire is to take the middle school or high school band program by storm, learn the percussion rhythms from around the world or just “stomp up a storm” by using trash cans, buckets and other everyday objects to express your individuality, these 45 minute classes are for you! Small group classes are designed for various age groups beginning with fourth graders.

Percussion Preparatory Course: Introduction to Classical Percussion
-getting students ready for middle school band
-materials needed, drum pad on a stand, and a bell set

Drum Line: Introduction to Marching Percussion
-getting students ready for high school percussion
-focusing on technique and battery drumming
-materials needed, drum pad on a stand

World Music: Introduction to World Percussion and Hand Drumming
-immersing ourselves in the rhythms of other countries and all parts of the world
-materials needed, small djembe(purchased through the school of music)

STOMP! A look into the world of Urban/Street Drumming
-Have you wondered how the Blue Man Group does what they do?
-learn the art of playing on trash cans and other items we use in our everyday life!

Family Time Kindermusik Class
(Minimum class size of three families required)

Kindermusik is an international music education curriculum for preschoolers. This fall semester we will offer four classes. The “Village Class” focuses on newborns – 18 months, the “Our Time Class” is for 18 months – 3 year olds, the “Imagine That Class” is for 3-5 year olds and the “Family Time Class” is for families with more than one preschooler. Classes are on Monday mornings and will begin September 13th.
