Nancy Norton

Nancy Norton began her violin studies at the age of five with the Suzuki Method. She was a member of her school orchestras both in junior high and high school. During her high school junior year she won the San Antonio Symphony Young Artists' Competition and performed as soloist with that symphony orchestra. She was also the recipient of several scholarship awards from her high school. She graduated from the College of Music at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance. While attending UNT she studied violin with Philip Lewis and Igor Borodin and viola with George Pappich. She was a winner of the Concerto and Aria Competition at UNT which earned her a solo performance with the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra . She also attended the Southern Methodist University Summer Conservatory where she studied violin with Emmanuel Borok and Arkady Fomin. She has also studied privately with Emmanuel Borok. Since graduation Nancy works as a free lance violinist in the DFW metroplex. She performs with a variety of regional orchestras in the north Texas area as well as fulfilling other miscellaneous musical engagements. For the past eleven summers she has been a member of the violin section of the Missouri Chamber Orchestra in Columbia , Missouri . She has been teaching private violin and viola lessons to primary and secondary school students in many of the area communities such as Plano, Flower Mound, Allen, Frisco, Garland, Denton and, currently, in Rockwall. She uses the Suzuki method to teach pre-school aged and other younger students. She enjoys working with students of all ages and levels.
